Innovation from the drawing board to the patient (Part 1)

Aktualizováno: 25. 11. 2021

The CzechMed Association has launched a series of webinars on the topic of innovation from the drawing board to the patient. Part one: DIGITALIZATION. WHAT COVID SHOW US? We discussed, among other things, the lack of a clear vision and priorities for the Minister of Health. There is a document National Concept of Health 2030, which is more theoretical, but the practice lags. The 21st century physician should strive to maintain the patient's health. Work in the field of prevention. Meeting record here:

DIGITALIZATION AND LEGISLATION The good news is that we will no longer operate in a vacuum, but there is a legal anchor in the issue of digitization. Thanks to IZIP, we were able to be at the forefront of Europe, but current practice is rather lagging behind. "Today, the state will guarantee a technical and communication standard. It will provide a secure communication network and temporary storage, "said Mgr. JUDr. Vladimíra Těšitelová, Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic. So let's live in the hope that we will have a safer life that will not be many times more complicated. The EU Medical Devices Regulation stipulates that software that is part of a medical device will need to be re-certified by notified bodies. This Regulation also does not exclude hospital information systems. "EU regulation is logical. Take, for example, an insulin pump, which uses software to evaluate a patient's condition and dispense the amount of insulin. If it malfunctions, it can even kill, "explained JUDr. Bc. Jakub Král, Ph.D., Porta Medica.

WHAT COVID SHOW US? WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WANT! "Unfortunately, I encounter technology more often on missions than at home. Our ridicule at the expense of developing countries is out of place. Unlike us, developing countries are aware of the need to find cheap and effective solutions in order to serve as many patients as possible. Their care is characterized by high mobility. The doctor comes to the patient's home. This is a trend that is appearing all over the world and needs attention. A 21st century doctor is trying to keep care! He acts as a serviceman of a healthy patient. At age 60, a Czech patient receives a handful of drugs and dies at age 80. Everyone wants to be healthy as long as possible. So the essence should be health, not healthcare. Let us not underestimate the patient and support him in taking care of his health. The role of the state should not be protective, but should only set the boundaries. I would support decentralization and access to data. Artificial intelligence shows the incredible possibilities that await us soon. Let's not be hegemony over the data and let's start the cooperation between the state and private healthcare, "says MUDr. Lukáš Šebek, general surgeon at the František Hospital, member of Médecins Sans Frontières.
